Re: Does the SD1A break 500GB cudas?

[ Edited ]

Does Firmware works for 500Gbs drives in RAID 0 configurations?, if does, how do you flash your drives, connected as usual (All together at a time) or plug only one by one.

I´m worried about loss my RAID partition and all data doing firmware update...

I´m one of the lucky guys, don´t have a problem yet, but don´t want to power up PC one day and discover it doesn´t boot.

Thanks.

Re: Does the SD1A break 500GB cudas?

Just to add another ST3500320AS success story - I was initially worried how FreeDOS was sitting at InitDisk with "Error reading partition table drive 00 sector 0" for a long time, but if you leave it it goes through that and updates fine.

Re: Does the SD1A break 500GB cudas?

I can't find the firmware you're all speaking about.

I've got a brand new ST3500320AS with a SD15 firmware, and I'd like to upgrade it to prevent the bug.

By the way, I've subscribed to KB related to upgrading firmware, but I never received any mail...

OK. Flashed my 3 ST3500320AS Cudas with new firmware and they are alive again. No data loss.

Re: Does the SD1A break 500GB cudas?

Hello,

Is there anybody who upgraded to SD1A and lost access to data (but drive remained visible in BIOS) and now upgraded to fixed firmware and regained access to data on the drive ?

Cheers,

Zbyszek

Re: Does the SD1A break 500GB cudas?

 Fixed mine!

V3 of the firmware works. My ST3500320AS is now working exactly as before. Boots fine and everything registers.

Now I am thinking about buying three new hard drive from another company though. All three from seagate were the biggest problem models.

Atleast they all have a new firmware and work just as well as they did before, and even more improtantly I didn't lose any data.

Re: Does the SD1A break 500GB cudas?

@Zbyniu:

I think most if not all of the success reports on the last 3..4 pages are of this type, as this discussion thread was dedicated to the problem that you describe.

My ST2500320AS also got inaccessible after I had applied the 2nd version of the upgrade and the new one brought it back.

Well my drive flashed ok but it now fails the Smart test in Seatools :/ anyone else getting this?

Edit Everest gives it a pass on its SMART tests. Perhaps a bug in Seatools?
