I've got two of these drives, this is the newer one of the two, when full it would randomly start hunting around spinning up down click click, and it would die and I would need to power off the PC for 10 sec, and start it up again and it would be fine (Reboot alone didn't work)
Purchased a new 2TB seagate drive and copied all the stuff off the dodgy drive, and tried to full erase it, which failed.
I then did a short DST - Failed. SeaTools Test Code: 9DAAA2E3 (Seatools for DOS 9DAAA263)
Then Fix all Long - Pass.
Full erase - Fail again.
Short DST - Pass.
Fix all long - Pass.
Long generic - Pass.
Full erase - Fail.
If its passing all the tests why can't I erase it?
I dont trust my data on it as it randomly dies when it gets more than 95% full, probably bad sectors.
Should I RMA this drive or not? I simply don't trust it anymore.
My thinking was if I could zero fill it and fix all long without issues the drive would be fine and have re-allocated the bad sectors.
But since it still doesn't want to zero fill... I have no idea why not
Please see attachment for log.
(P.s. it does the same in seatools for dos..)
