Extended Capacity Drive Performance

I have a 3TB STBD3000100 installed on 32 bit XP Pro SP3 running on an AMD 64 utilizing the Extended Capacity Manager to utilize the entire hard drive.  I ran md5 sums on nearly identical file structures (one on native C: and another on an extended drive) both with about 2,700 directories and 25,000 files and saw significant performance issues on the extended drive.

I've been unable to find any information on any performance regarding the extended drives.  Can anyone quantify performance on an extended drive to better plan drive use?

Re: Extended Capacity Drive Performance

The outer zones of the physical HDD will have twice the sustained data transfer rate than the innermost zones. A HD Tune read benchmark graph should demonstrate this.
