FW updated 7200.11 speeds (and SD25)

I have a 7200.11 with fw SD25, a 7200.11 with SD15 and a Maxtor with mx15, the latter two firmware updated, all 500 G. Before the crisis I wasn't happy with the speed of these drives,  because under certain circumstances they were awful slow: e.g. saving the wav of a certain AVI testfile in virtual dub took 2:20-2:40, while all other manufacturer's drives and 7200.10s saved it in 36-38 secs. The fimware updated drives, however, now also save it in 36-38 secs (and they're also much more silent), so Seagate has just given their drives ACCEPTABLE performance. But their site says my SD25 drive doesn't need updating! Am I supposed to live with the SD25 drive with inferior performance?

Can you flash SD25 drives with the SD1A fw? Or has anyone any comment about this?
