Firmware is rolling out now. Now we need info on what to do with bricked drives!

Could seagate please give us some info on what to do with:

1. Disks bricked from the original faulty FW

2. Disks bricked from the first two released fixes.

Support doesn't seem to answer emails so it is time that some one at seagate takes some responsibility and tells us what to do. Time is money!

Umm.. first line of the article reads:

' Attention: This guide isn't intented for inexperienced users! Is very easy to KILL your HD if you don't follow the instructions with extreme caution. You have been warned! I'm NOT responsible for any damage or data loss it can causes.'

Do you really think a lot of users are going to want to do this?

Well, this is necessary to avoid the noobs.  Of course, not everyone will be able to recovery and for those will need to RMA, there is NO other way to fix.

Fernando: Dude... I'm already building my own interface for it. But we need an OFFICIAL statement from Seagate what THEY will do for the customers. Don't come here with that 1337 attitude. Since I ask on the seagate forum I want to know how Seagate will follow up on this and how THEY will help us out. Since I got here from the first place you, who are so smart, should have figured out that I know how google works...

We are not just talking about people sitting at home and trying to save the pr0n they been stacking up for years. We are talking data that's worth millions and millions dollars. And what will Seagate do to help their customers with that. And most important. WHEN? Since nobody seems to be sitting on the other line of that support email adress maybe someone here from Seagate can answer?

Its simple...backup first as they suggested and all will be fine. Its really not hard to flash firmware for any device, the problem is not knowing which firmware to use and being impaitient and hard booting during flash

Unfortunately, this doesn't help those of us whose drives bricked in such a way the BIOS will not recognize them.  It would be nice to know what Seagate wants us to do in that case.

Yes... an official statement from Seagate on what they plan on doing for those of us who can't access the drive in bios would be nice.

I have heard the following......all from people on the forums

Send it in and they will send you a new one - without recovering your data.

Just do the firmware update ... it will work.

Send it in and Seagate will repair your drive and send it back.

The problem is that you can't trust what people post because everyone is being told a different story by tech support, online chat, over e-mail or on the forums.

We need an OFFICIAL announcement from Seagate, what should we do? What are they going to do to solve this situation?
