Hello, I need help with a hard drive model ST9320423AS, it came with my Dell Vostro 3700 laptop with firmware revision D004SDM1. The computer is locking up randomly, is there any way to get the version 5SDM1 which seems to be the latest one for my drive? thank you.

After 3 years in a laptop I would suspect the poor little blighter is dying, install HD Sentinal and find the health rating of the drive first, if it's as I suspect somewhere below 20% this will be why it's locking up rather than the FW.

Hi folks, I have an ST9320423AS from HP with firmware 0006HPM1. The hard drive makes occasionally clicking noises, which drive me crazy. Health is estimated at 100% by HD Sentinel and there are no other issues with it whatsoever. I would love to update to 5SDM1 and get rid of the annoying sounds, but I am afraid I may brick it. Has anyone had experience with such a procedure?

I prefer Win9x because it lets me get closer to the hardware. One major annoyance, though, is that I keep running out of resources.
unfortunately, Win9x users will have to live with the "out of resource" problems - it's a problem that will not go away. Read the following from this web site:
the site talks about "resources" in win9x, how they work and how to deal with the problems they make.
