I've used a program called Fileshredder 2. Format and Install the drive as a slave in another pc if available and use FS2 to wipe free space.

"Darek's Boot-N-Nuke" [DBAN] will definately wipe it even to US Defense Dept. specs. However, I tried it with a SATA 250GB and was looking at about 8 DAYS to complete the whole drive. I don't know if that's something you want to try but it will definately kill all the ones and zeros on it now...
