Hard Drive Issues!!

I keep receiving an error, "Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk and Press Enter." I cannot get my PC to boot at all. I can get it as far as the red Compaq page and all I can get to function is the F1 key to get to my BIOS. I have ran Seatools for DOS and passed all tests. The hard drive is recognized in my BIOS. I checked to see if my hard drive was spinning and it is. For some reason I have to turn the power on and off several times before I can get it to try to boot. I have recovery disks from HP and it still will not do anything but go to the error. PLEASE HELP

Re: Hard Drive Issues!!

In order to boot from your recovery CD, you need to go into BIOS setup and make sure that your optical drive (CD/DVD) precedes the hard drive in the boot order.

Re: Hard Drive Issues!!

It sounds like the "Master Boot Record (MBR)" on your HD might have been corrupted.

In addition to previous comments, you might want to try restoring the "MBR" if you had an "Image Backup" using Seagate DiscWizard before.

You could also google/bing using the key word like "recover mbr" and pick the progam that helps restoring the "MBR".

Hope this helps.
