Barracuda XT, Barracuda, Barracuda Green, DiamondMax and other desktop SATA and IDE drives

when i boot my computer this message shows 
"Sec Slave Hard Disk: S.M.A.R.T Status Bad, Backup and Replace"
press f1 to continue..

now, when i continue to boot, it runs normally..

i have 2 IDE's as primary master and primary slave, plus a SATA drive.. 

maxtor master IDE (40gb) has only 1 partition. this runs my OS
seagate slave IDE (40gb) has 2 partitions. this is from my old system which contains somewhat important files
seagate barracuda SATA (500gb) has 3 partitions. this contains my multimedia files. it is a replacement barracuda for my originally purchased one which turns out to belong in a bad production line (lasted only for six months, the one with the dying sound). this replacement SATA drive was sent to me 10 months ago.

i pretty much thought at first that it was the SATA drive with the problem. but realizing that the warning mentions SLAVE then it pertains to the slave ide drive, am i right?

so, what can i do to save this drive? is it really the end for this drive,?

help please anyone?

"now, when i continue to boot, it runs normally..", so BACKUP YOUR MASTER & SLAVE DRIVES ASAP BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!!! as your old drives have started acting up.

First of all, your "seagate barracuda SATA (500gb)" is probably OK. Boot your computer without your "seagate barracuda SATA (500gb)" connected to see if the warning goes away. If NO, it's time to replace both 40gb drives because they are old, slow and have shown signs of failure. You don't want to wait for disaters to come!

Since you have a "seagate barracuda SATA (500gb)", you should be better off using this drive as a single drive. Your computer will run much faster, especially your OS.   

You can use Seagate DiscWizard to prepare your "seagate barracuda SATA (500gb)" with as many partitions as you want to meet your need. It's fast, safe, and easy to use!
