Has anyone successfully applied new ST31000333AS firmware to a drive running SD35 firmware?

Anyone?

Are you mocking me?

Nope.....not able to update here.

Thanks Seagate....for selling me a drive...then telling me it *does* have a problem (based on the serial checker)...then not fixing the problem.

Has anyone heard from Seagate regarding this drive and the SD35 firmware? I have a tech support request in with Seagate, but they have not yet responded.

I have not heard a thing from Seagate on this drive and firmware SD35.

Check your open case with support....they may have closed it.  Mine was closed with no word from Seagate.

I opened ANOTHER case this morning with them and are waiting to here.

Did you use the serial checker to see if your drive is "technically" affected?

Re: Has anyone successfully applied new ST31000333AS firmware to a drive running SD35 firmware?

Thanks Kevin. I had two customer service requests. One looks like it was edited to delete particulars then closed as solved and the other is still open. The open one was created on the 18'th. I entered my serial number into the web based checker and it comes back affected.

I am upset because I have two 1TB drives that are useless. One crashed and burned my WHS server which I had to spend hours rebuilding and the other is pulled and sits unused because I don't trust it.

Personally, I want Seagate to send me two new drives and a mailer to return these defective units. Not an unreasonable request. Seagate, on the other hand expects me to download firmware, burn a CD, strip a machine of drives and update their defect. To make matter worse, I have done all their work for them and the fix is defective and won't run on my drive. What the heck do they expect from their consumers.

Clearly they expect a lot from their customers....but what they are going to get is a lot of ex-customers.

I don't expect miracles from any company, but I do except some level of customer service.  I paid for a drive, it's listed as affected, and their fix doesn't work.  So what do they do, they close my request.

If you find anything out, let us know....I'll do the same.  Good luck.

I spent some time on the phone yesterday with Seagate regarding ST31000333AS  fw SD35.  They did not have the firmware available yet.
