Head Parking Click 2tb LP # ST32000542AS

Seagate Barracuda 2TB Serial ATA/5900-RPM 3.5" Hard Drive - ST320005N4A1AS-RK

(CPUID Hardware Monitor shows as # ST32000542AS)

Just got the above, mounted in a dual fan external, SATA connection,... runs cool and mostly quiet...

Read all the anti-Seagate hype 'bout the notorious "click of death":

However...

When booting, powering down... and very occasionally (very randomly), I hear a few very quiet clicks and even quieter buzzes...
(not the enclosure, it powers up and down separately with it's own power source)

The "noises" (if you can even call them that) are not changing, they always do the same thing...

Otherwise, it runs great...

Thinking of possibly doing a 30 day return and just getting the WD for a few bucks more:

I'd say it's initilising and parking myself, not too sure what to suggest really, you could try setting Windows to run flatout in the powersaving section, but I suspect it's being controlled within the enclosure so Win settings might not help, be sure you have no viruses also, these could be making it react badly.

You could cold test it, leave it unattached from the PC and see what it does when you switch it on then, at least it will rule out if it's the PC doing it, or just something in the enclosure.
