Btw, fzabkar, i found out that my local electronic store (farnell) sells SMAJ5.0A. They are manufactured by BOURNS and the specs are shown below:

Yes, that's it. Just make sure you line up the stripe on the diode with the "v" on the board.

Hello,

I have a burnt tvs 12v diode too. I would like to ask something before i proceed. Do i need to connect those two points with wire when i desolder the diode? Or i just remove it from the circuit?

hpanagis, you should just remove the diode. Do not bridge it with a wire. Just be absolutely certain that your power supply is good, as you will no longer have overvoltage protection on the +12V rail.

Thanks fzabkar! I figured it out a min after i posted. I removed the part and the disk now is working again. I will backup the data and use it as a backup disk only.
