Initial boot problem with ST3320620A

Hi Friends

I have Seage 320 GB ATA (ST3320620A) internal HDD and I'm using WinXP SP2/Asus K8N MB.

I'm not able to boot my PC by pressing the power button of my PC. As soon as I press the power button it goes power off. And it repeats for indefinite pressing. If my luck is with me it will boot after several button pressing, may be 30-40 pressing !!! And it makes more noise when it is running.

But, if I unplug the HDD internal power cable my PC boots normally but shows the message "Disk not found/Invalid boot disk". Again when I connects the HDD power the same above problem comes.

So it boils down to me that "The Seagate HDD has definitely some problem".

Please help me.

run seatools on the drive

-if you didn't back up your junk, you didn't need it after your drive crashed

Re: Initial boot problem with ST3320620A

The disk is sometimes working and sometimes not working with SMART error on Seatools test.
What to do now ? Should I replace it?
Can I ask Seagate to replace with a SATA HDD with my ATA HDD of same size ?

Thank you
