Mac Firmware ???

Ok

Looks like 2 of my new drives are affected. The good news is they's new and have no data on them yet! I downloaded the SD1A firmware but it seems to be in .EXE format so where's the Mac version??

Re: Mac Firmware ???

the firmware that has been posted so far (which does not work) it's an ISO image which you be able to burn to a CD under OS X too. Where are you getting this EXE from?

Re: Mac Firmware ???

I think you are meaning when you open the .iso there is a .exe file and a readme.txt.

burn the iso to a disc using disk utility. Then boot up your computer, hold the alt/option key at startup. select the Cd which is titled "Windows" and it will boot up into a "dos" like program. It worked on my mac. until i had to actually update the firmware... grr

Re: Mac Firmware ???

Here's an interesting response I received from my supplier. OWC.NOTE that OWC reduced the price on the 7200.111TB barracudas by 50%. This means that OWC is perfectly willing to sell drives with failure issues. My next post will include guerrilla strategies to teahc Seagate and OWC some manners.

-------

"At this time we have not received any new firmware updates from Seagate. Once we do receive the updated firmware it will take us 1 to 2 weeks to verify that the firmware update will fix the issue. Until that time we cannot offer you a firmware update and the firmware update Seagate sent you can only be applied on a PC.

Re: Mac Firmware ???

New update (SDA1 v2) works both updating and running on a Mac.  See here:
