Should be able to, you don't have to use Seatools anyway, there are plenty of freeware proggy's that will report the drives condition, personally I've a feeling that either your power lead wasn't in properly, or the psu or lead isn't pushing a constant supply through, as it now works ok in the dock which has it's own power, it would suggest a power issue, if you have one of those unbranded grey generic jobbies this won't help run a stable system, good food leads to good energy levels ![]()
