Two things.
1) Post the model number so I can verify. If it ends with "AS", it's SATA. If with "A", it's IDE.
2) Alot of people get confused because many laptops have an extra piece that's actually from the laptop that is connected to the interface pinout of the drive. Make sure there's not an extra piece sticking out.

Now, if you confirm your laptop drive looks like a SATA, make sure you bought a Laptop drive enclosure. You may have got an enclosure for a Desktop SATA drive, which is larger.
