I have searched to try to find solutions to this & none have worked. I have fully formatted, ran ChkDisk, Seatools for Windows, etc... and nothing shows errors. Looks good & healthy in Computer Management. When I try to clone my current drive to my new one with Acronis it stops at 6%-25% with a message:
Error: unable to write disc 2 sector xxxxxxxxx
It's saying it's unable to write to my new Momentus HD. Sector #'s vary each time. ChkDisk showed no problems.

Profitweb,
Posted this earlier today. I meant to reply to your 4-22-09 post, but am new to the forum and ended up posting a stand-alone. Any news?

Did you get a solution? I have the same problem cloning a 30G hard drive on an IBM R40 laptop to a new Seagate Momentus 5400.3 120G drive. I am using MaxBlast 5 to do the cloning.
I have the new drive attached through a USB R2 port. The source drive has two partitions.
I get 66% through the cloning of the first partition when the "unable to to write disc 2 sector xxxxxxxxx" messages start. After a few retrys and ignores, I selected Ignore All. The process continues VERY slowly (1 percent every 10 minutes) but with no more disk activity.
Did you find a solution?
