Jason,
Thanks for the info. The drives came configured that way from Dell (Raid 0), whiched seem kind of silly to me but I did not get around to reinstalling using Raid 1. As luck had it I had another drive fell in my other pc so I moved data from that pc to the Dell. And now I am deep trouble. 2 Pcs with failed drives. I guess I can always pay a place to recover the data?
Mark.

My drives are in a RAID 5 array, and I flashed them by disconnecting them from my Areca RAID card and hooking them up to the onboard SATA interface on the motherboard. The array didn't have to rebuild; it was reported as "Normal" by the card after I re-connected the drives to the card and rebooted.
As a test though, I did flash only one drive first and hooked it back up to the RAID card just to make sure the array would recognize it. After it did, I flashed the remaining drives all at once without problems.

I did exactly the same, with a PERC 6/i RAID controller. Updated 8 disks without any problems, the controller recognized the disks and the array and didn't have to rebuild or anything like that. That is good news for people who have a raid card, I am using the onboard Intel Matrix Storage (Software Raid). For what ever reason, after I flashed the HD it treated it as a new drive and began rebuilding the array.
