Re: No update for Diamond Max (STM)

[ Edited ]

So here are the results:

I only got one of my 2 drives back so i give you all the results of the drive i got back.

2 month ago i bought these drives  and i wonder why they are so loud!

After the firmwareflash today i cant hear the drive.Thats strange.

So i have  made a benchmark and what should i say the transfer rate have peaks up and down and the average rate is from 83,7mb/s to now with mx1a 75,2mb/s.

But one drive is working now and have no bad blocks!

So i have to rma the other one but i am happy that i got my data back but not more.

The service or the information here from seagate was very awful and that makes my decision very easy not to get any maxtor/seagate again.

But  i am sure that i am not the only person who's thinking like that!

Re: No update for Diamond Max (STM)

I got the firmware and tried to flash my drive. It's still dead!

It flashed the firmware to harddisk and automacially closed the PC. And then i opened the PC again but bios didn't still detect the harddisk!

What will i do now?

I think we can do nothing so i have to rma the 2nd drive thats the only thing we can do i think if the flash didn't work.

Re: No update for Diamond Max (STM)

Nothing? This is a Seagate problem. NOT ME!!! They must fix our problems. I can't work on PC since 2 weeks because of them!!! I'm so angry about that.

 My first try:

I've pressed the "A", it downloaded the firmware for my harddisk without any error. Then i open the PC, but i can't still see my harddisk.

 My second try:

I've pressed the "A" again, but it gave error this time:

********

Error: Specific model not found.
MAXTOR STM3500320AS expected.

********

I can't get my harddisk for this firmware. I have nothing! I have lost everything. You would be very happy now. Thanks Seagate!

Re: No update for Diamond Max (STM)

Firmware downloaded, but I'll wait to install it at least 1 week, looking at potential problems in the forum.

My disk is actually working, and  serial number checker is reporting it as "not affected"... But the disk time to time hangs for some seconds and I hope the new firmware resolves also this problem, that's why I'd like to upgrade it anyway.

Experiences? Anyone tried the fix on a 750GB?

Re: No update for Diamond Max (STM)

So you still trust Seagate's 'not affected', 'firmware bug'? Good luck to you (and us).

Re: No update for Diamond Max (STM)

Hey maxtor0 what should i say if the firmware doesn't work wha should we do?!!!

I am glad that 1 of my 2 drives are  alive now with all my backup data.

What say the flashtool if you scan the drive?

I scanned it and after it appears i flashed it. With no problem on 1 drive the other flashed i think but didn't appear in bios.

Thats  why i have to rma the dead one.

Re: No update for Diamond Max (STM)

Hey giorgio you want to risk all your data because of waiting another week befor flashing?

I think you should not wait until your drive is dead!

Just think about it!

Re: No update for Diamond Max (STM)

Hi guys

I have a little question. I have 2 STM3500320AS one is already dead the other one still working. The serial number check utilety tells me that the still working hard disk doesn't need to be updated.

Now the new firmware is out and the question is should I update both hard disk or just the dead one?

Before the "crash" they operated in raid 0 so different firmware might be a problem?

Sorry for my english i'm no native speaker

Thanks for any reply.

Re: No update for Diamond Max (STM)

If they have the firmware mx15 just flash them as fast as you can i think!

My 2 drives died after 2 month of using now i get 1 drive with the firmware back to alive!

And after flashing the new firmware the drive is no longer as loud as with the mx15 firmware!

So if iam in your position i would flash both of them!

Hope you get the dead drive also back to alive!
