Re: Not detected in BIOS? You are basically screwed :(

what happen with seagate paying to have it recovered? i guess that article was false. i want my data back not rma for an empty hard drive.. what a waste of money get a hard drive that only last for 2 months then you lose all your data.

I need my data and not for 500$

wish it would be reconized stupid bricked drive

Re: Not detected in BIOS? You are basically screwed :(

1 Bricked drive and 1 drive that I was able to update.... both 1TB 7200.11

I havent seen any documentation on an official Seagate website saying that they would offer free data recovery. Although since they own a data recovery service I dont see why the wouldnt offer it for free to help overcome this debacle...

I dont know the logistics of swapping out just the electronic parts with parts that have updated firmware on them but wouldnt this work?

I have tons of movies on this drive that Id hate to replace... Seagate DO SOMETHING!!!

Re: Not detected in BIOS? You are basically screwed :(

Same problem here too. My ST31000340AS with firmware SD15 is stuck in BSY state, and my computer won't go past checking for the drives with it connected. So, there is no way I can flash the new SD1A firmwire and unbrick it. I have heard rumours that Seagate are offering free data recovery for these failed drives as it is a simple fix with the right hardware, but I've no idea if this is true or not. It would be nice if we had some more information about this, as there is clearly a communication barrier between Seagate and its customers. I have already had to purchase another hard drive in order to keep my desktop alive while I'm waiting, as I am at university and I need it in order to do my work.

Re: Not detected in BIOS? You are basically screwed :(

Has anyone here with this issue been able to talk to tech support and find out what they plan on doing for us? Recover data? Fix the drive and send it back?

This is getting old.

Re: Not detected in BIOS? You are basically screwed :(

Same situation here, disc isn't being recognized by bios, so i can't upgrade firmware. What happens now with my data ??

Its so frustrating.

Sent several emails to support, opened a ticket but no reply, not even an automathic reply saying they are being flooded and they won't be able to reply any time soon, this lack of info is what i hate the most.

Shame on you seagate.

Re: Not detected in BIOS? You are basically screwed :(

I called seagate tech support and asked what could be done to unbrick drives that are undectable in bios... they said they cant do anything more that we could do ourselves and I asked about data recovery services being provided at no charge... was told I would receive a callback...usually its within 24 hours but could be longer..
