PCB power connector plastic cover broken

[ Edited ]

Plastic cover over PCB connector [power connector] of my Seagate 1GB internal hard-disk is broken [connector pins are OK though]. I put broken plastic over the power pins, and jacked power cable that way. It worked for a while, then one day, after reboot, BIOS stopped seeing the disk. Disk evidently is spinning, but I suspect not all power pins have a contact. I have important data inside the disk, of about 300Gb, which I want to save and transfer. I don't think disk is broken (no damaged platters, and data-connector + its plastic cover are ok). Any help, advice would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Re: PCB power connector plastic cover broken

If the disc is spinning, then it is getting power from the connector. ISTM that your drive may have an internal fault.

Yea, most likely busted firmware, which is well known to exist in Barracuda 7200.12s with CC37 firmware.
