When SMARTd started reporting 1 CurrentPendingSector and 1 OfflineUncorrectableSector on my 1 year old ST31000528AS, I replaced it with a new drive. A quick check revealed that the drive is still under warranty (until Nov-24), but I read that before sending it back I must make sure that it fails SeaTools' tests. Unfortunately, both short Generic and Long Generic tests on that drive pass fine. What should I do? I trust SMARTd and don't want to put the drive back into use and risk further deterioration and eventual data loss, but I can't get it replaced because SeaTools think all is good...
Any help or guidance you can provide will be highly appreciated.
