My Seagate ST31000528AS (which has been powered on for no more than ~100 days) started making some weird clicking noises at random times. When it does, the drive is completely inaccessible, or hardly accessible. I recorded the sound of this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klJA9goEA44 .
I ran an extended SMART test on this drive two days ago and it completed without errors.
Could anyone help? Should I RMA the drive?

One of my ST31000528AS drives is also making this same clicking noise on a completely random basis. The drive started making a tick tick tick tick sound a few weeks ago, but after about a week stopped. Now about two weeks later this new noise has started up. I've run the Seatools tests, but they've been passing the whole time its been making noises.

Hi, i've the same problem with my drive. I wrote to the technical support but no answer yet.
Maybe a formware issue like the 7200.11 series ?
Please seagate guys let us know something soon.

BACK UP YOUR DATA
Hello there.
The sound you're hearing there is called hard drive "clicking" and and widely accepted as a sure sign your hard drive is on its way out.
You need to back up your data, and RMA the drive as soon as possible.
The link in my sig may provide you with some good information. (re RMA).
BUT YOU MUST BACK UP YOUR DATA.
