Barracuda XT, Barracuda, Barracuda Green, DiamondMax and other desktop SATA and IDE drives

1397 GB total, but after running Check Disk, it comes back with only 1024 GB free and 373 GB Errored.

Is the 1024 GB Available a coincidence?

1465136000 KB total disk space.
  391391104 KB in bad sectors.
        110700 KB in use by the system.
          65536 KB occupied by the log file.
1073634172 KB available on disk.

This is the Second Drive.  Tech support had me RMA my first one which had the same problems.  Any Ideas?

I am running XP pro SP2 x64 with an

AMD Phenom Quad Core 2.5 GHz and

8GB of DDR2 1066 MHz

all on a Biostar TA790GX A2+ MoBo

Your problem looks very similar to a known NVidia driver issue. The driver cannot count past 31 bits, which limits the visible capacity of the drive to only 1TB.

In the NVidia case, the fix was a driver update.

Your motherboard's chipset appears to be AMD 790GX northbridge plus SB750 southbridge. The latter contains the SATA ports, so I'd be looking for the latest driver update for the SB750. Perhaps XP needs to be updated as well.
