Try HDAT2:

http://www.hdat2.com

See section M8 of the User Manual (Security Menu):

Re: ST3250820A - hard disk locked

hola, al parecer la pila estaba fallando y el disco duro se bloqueó. El HADT2 no lo puede desbloquear ni borrar, me pide password:

En Security menu dice:

SECURITY: ENABLED/LOCKED/MAXIMUM

Alguién conoce alguna forma de desbloquear o borrar el disco duro? Y el password cómo lo puedo conseguir o dónde esta?

Estaré muy agradecido por sus comentarios y sugerencia.

Thanks!

Re: ST3250820A - hard disk locked

hi, apparently the battery was failing and the hard drive was blocked. The HADT2 can not unlock or delete, it asks me password:

In the Security menu says:

SECURITY: ENABLED / LOCKED / MAXIMUM

Anybody know any way to unlock or erase the hard drive? And the password how or where can I get this?

I'll be very grateful for your comments and suggestions.

Thanks!

Re: ST3250820A - hard disk locked

The HDAT2 user manual states ...

"In Maximum security mode, one can not unlock the disk without knowing the passwords. One way to reuse the disk is to issue the SECURITY ERASE PREPARE command followed by SECURITY ERASE UNIT. However, The SECURITY ERASE UNIT command will require the Master password and all data will be erased as a result."

I think you may need help from a data recovery specialist. :-(

Re: ST3250820A - hard disk locked

Does this help? It's for a 2.5" drive, but maybe the principles are similar.

ATA-Password on a Seagate 2.5" IDE? Any way to remove it?
