Hello, please accept my apology for mistakes in this message.
I bought one of ST3500320AS in April 08 to my new PC. This hdd is without any issue, but... In December 08 I bought next ST3500320AS and connect both of them into RAID0 (stripe). It was very nice, every work on pc became faster. Unfortunately the new one ST3500320AS broke today morning. I'm from the Czech republic and today (after failure of my new ST3500320AS) I read on gaming website about bad firmware on hdds made in Dec 08. When I turn on my computer it write Please insert disk, boot disk failure (or something like that). I'm using Win XP 32bit. Can I turn the broken ST3500320AS back to normal and safe all data or it is total failure that can not be fixed? Please help, thank you very much.

As you created a Raid0, all data is lost except if the broken drive has the mentioned issue, because then you can take the Seagate free recovery service (If that is really true), or if seagate offers a way to bring dead drives back, you can use this to try to get the drive alive again.
Then there could be a chance that you can get your Raid-0 working again. If this doesn't help, I'm afraid there's nothing you can do except using a Professional Data Recovery Service (but thats way to expensive I guess)

A minor correction: The drives were manufactured until December that had the problem - not during December. People have drives made in the summer that did this.
Can a mod confirm the exact information/provide a link, please?

the model st3500320as , it buys when it only last 1 month to me. by guarantee policies I could not demand it, I am in Panama it buys and it in the United States. I need to know if it is possible to be repaired? or a piece can be bought to repair it. The disc does not recognize it any to mother board.
I am a year old since damage
please help me I do not want to reject it

I have the same exact harddrive, bought in about 2008, I had it hooked up as my secondary, and I had everything on this drive.
Almost 4 years of wildlife research, family photo's that I'll never see again.

How about re-naming it "The Flounder".
I called SeaGate and asked if they could help me out.
The person said that they can try and save the data.
I then asked the magic question:
"For how much?"
Seagates Reply: "For around $800.00."
Seems like Seagate is in to profit from their defected products.
Never ever again will I even consider throwing away so much.
Never again will I purchase and/or trust my anything, to be put on a SeaGate hard drive.
And even though this thread says that the problem has been solved,
It hasn't.
$800.00 is not a solution, That's a rip off!

Don't throw it away you haven't lost your data just yet, if you feel able to do it unbrick it using the CA-42 method, if you don't feel able to do that ask a friend who is confident to do it for you, or go to the local PC shop and see if there is someone who does repairs who can fix it for you for a small reward, as long as it is the bricking or LBA0 fault *not showing or showing 0 capacity* in the bios it is saveable, if you want to have a look at the methods simply google how to unbrick Seagate 7200.11 drives and there are video's etc to show you how, hth.
