ST9320421AS is SUPER slow on my Mac

I have no idea why my new ST9320421AS is SO slow on my mac, but it's driving me nuts! I upgraded from a 5400 RPM drive to it and it is SO much slower.

I just had it installed on my machine and it's ridiculously slow. I have an MacBook Pro Core 2 duo with 4 gigs of ram - this thing should be screaming fast!

Any advice? Is there a mac firmware update or something I'm not aware of?

Please help.

wow that sucks - such a nice machine and a  nice hard drive! 
 
make sure it doesnt have a jumper on it.  that can slow it down

Hi Im considering the same drive for a macbook 1.8Ghz (1st generation)....did you ever resolve your issue?  If so, what was the problem?
