Re: This seems like a bad joke...

Sorry Firm and Steady.  You cant email tech support at this time due to an email "glitch" that magically closed cases, and lost "thousands" of emails.  There is no end in sight to this backlog so, your best bet is to call the number you cant call.  But no worries, Its all puppies and rainbows from here on out.  Seagate has you covered.

Re: This seems like a bad joke...

Now the status on my case got changed to "Agent Solved (Closed)".

I re-opened the case, or at least tried to do so. The status is still the same.

They didn't answer my question (and it is obvious from the "response" I got, that they didn't actually read it), and now they just close it and stamp it "solved". This is rude and unacceptable!

Seagate tech support should get their act together. Last time there was a large scale hard-drive fiasco this didn't end well -  IBM doesn't make hard-drives no more. Seagate can't afford to do that - they only make hard-drives...

Re: This seems like a bad joke...

This is why I just bought WD for my new server.  The company I work for has been having issues with these drives in a few servers configured with RAID, looks like we might need to look at becoming partners with WD if Seagate doesn't get their act together.  It honestly sad the way they seem to be handling this.  For a group of people who have been long time seagate fans (like the company I work for) to start buying and building with a different brand of hard drives is saying something.  At the very least, they could be straight-forward with their consumers and tell them ALL the details of what's going on.

Bizarre. This makes me even more upset. Here we buy expensive things (NAS'es, drives, etc) to solve a problem and their irresponsibility leaves us spending time hunting for info and a solution.

Give a hoot. Backup your data on a non-seagate storage media.

Re: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 Firmware Issues

OK. I hopefully did that and got the SD1A firmware installed. But that was no fix: Serial number test (step 3) still reported my drive as affected )-: What now? Working as usual and hoping for the best?

Re: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 Firmware Issues

My Seagate Drive started having problems 20 days back, write delays and all. it then stopped working in the next couple of days. it is detected while POST, but BIOS shows 0GB capacity. everest ultimate shows 8064MB capacity for some reason, the drive had originally come with SD15 firmware, but i upgraded in to SD1A just, and it's still the same. what do i do to get it working again?

Seagate support has been HOPELESS at best, the online case i opened has not been replied to, yet, it has been 2 weeks. I have been trying to speak to customer service in my country (India) since the day my drive died, but it says that it is currently closed, and the working hours are blah blah blah, i've tried calling them every time of the day possible, even at nights, but have not yet been able to speak to a customer care person. This is my last and desperate attempt to get some help, or i'm throwing this drive under a roadroller and getting a new WD, this is my 3rd Seagate harddisk that has failed, opposed to NONE failurs of my WD drives.

Details of my brick :

Model: ST3500620AS, Serial: 9QM5KSH9, Firmware: SD1A (Updated from SD15)

I also have a problem with my HDD, in current operation the HDD has not been recognized by windows after more than 2 hours.

A restart solved the problem for a while but about 2 hours later the same problem occurs again.

It's a ST1500341AS HDD with firmware LC1A, is there any firmware update available?

If it is so, where can I get it from?

I have already downloaded the firmware update from the knowledge base, but it was only for SD firmware.

Is there anybody else who has the same problem?

Re: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 Firmware Issues

[ Edited ]

Good day,

Last year I buy 2 HDD Seagate 640 Gb ST 3640323AS I use them in Raid 0 Mainboard Gigabyte X48T-DQ6

ICH Controler, Firmware SD13 operating system Vista Home Basic x64 and from time to time Vista was

freezing I can move only the mouse and after some time stop responding at all.

This year I buy 2 HDD Seagate 1Tb ST31000333AS same computer same OS same RAID same drivers

Firmware CC1H and are making same problem.

I ask Gigabyte support and they send me to Seagate it's looking that the problem from here it's coming and from

all 7200.11 hardrives.

I found more messages reporting that 1.5 Tb its making this problems but for me it's looking that all has some

problems hardware or firmware.

So now the question:

Dear Seagate what we have to do with this hard drives!
