I have a Seagate ST310005N1A1AS-RK, SN: 9TE0EG27. The drive is in a new system. There is no data on the drive. Both Seatools and drivedetect identify the drive as a ST31000333AS, firmware: SD35.
The serial number check utility says there is new firmware for this drive. When I get to step 4 the ST310005N1A1AS is not listed.
The web page says "If you need assistance updating your firmware you can email us directly: Contact us." There are no e-mail addresses on the Contact Us page.
If it's a ST31000333AS, the firmware should be updated to br-sd1b. Both the executable program and CD fail to update the firmware.
Does it need an update? How do I update the firmware?
