Seagate ST3500320AS Size 0Mb

I have a problem with a Seagate Barracuda 7.200 11 ST3500320AS

The BIOS read correctly disk model but shows 0Mb size.

Where is the problem? Firmware? Mechanical? What do you think about?

Thanks and Regards!!

Re: Seagate ST3500320AS Size 0Mb

Hi, did you get anywhere with this? I have the same issue with a ST3750330AS drive, only purchased 11 weeks ago. It was fine until yesterday, rebooted WinXP Pro and the BIOS recognises the drive as SATA2 with 0MB capacity.

I have the exact same problem! Someone please post a solution if you have one. I have a 500GB Barracuda Seagate HD (ST3500320AS). Bios detects it as 0mb. My story here:

Re: Seagate ST3500320AS Size 0Mb

Hi,

I wasn't talking about the cache....my hard drive capacity is 500GB but is being detected as 0mb. This is a HUGE problem because I cannot access my important files stored on the HD. Its not being detected at all in My Computer if i boot from a different hard drive with windows XP. Recovery Software dont work either. I'm going to try to take my HD to a differn't computer altogether to see if i get any luck...cuz it may be my PC.

What are your system specs and is the motherboard bios up to date?

Re: Seagate ST3500320AS Size 0Mb

Hello, I tried taking my hard drive to different computer (which was bought pretty recently) and it showed the same error. Bios detected it as 0mb capacity. And so did "recovermyfiles" (on both computers). So im pretty sure its a problem with the hard drive and not my computer.

Its possible you may need to format it before the size is seen by the computer. Also what firmware does it have? Some seagate drives have an incorrect firmware that creates issues.

On the hard drive itself it says the firmware is "SD15". Also I dont want to try to format it yet because i would like to recover my files from it first.

There is a program called "testdisk" that may help you. It can recover files and as well as rebuild a dfamaged partition table. Google "Testdisk" to find the download.
