Segate 1.5TB ST31500341AS Causing Major System Crashes

Hello,

I just installed a new Segate I got back in October. Its a 1.5TB with Info below: Installed in in a previous system swapping it out for a smaller drive because I needed more space. I also installed Windows 7. Other than that nothing else was changed and everything else was working flawlessly. I have been reading a lot about drives with similar model numbers having issues and I don't really know what else to do? My computer will completely freeze randomly while using the computer.

Model Number: ST31500341AS

SN: 9VS2HB7Q

FW: CC1H

Re: Segate 1.5TB ST31500341AS Causing Major System Crashes

Still having problems.

I have tried updating the firm wear with the windows update found at http://seagate.custkb.com/seagate/crm/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=207957&Hilite=

Didn't update it, but seem to run okay. I read some other people were also having trouble so I burn the iso and did the bootable CD and it would not update it either and gave the following error.

Error: Specific model not found. ST31500341AS expected.

Using Sea Tools it list my drive as the model number above but it still can't find it? Whats going on? I pass the following in sea tools: smart check and short drive test. It does freeze when running the short generic test and I must reboot.

Please can anyone help me?

See which PSU you have, I had this issue before, and a new branded PSU sorted it.
