It will be the RST doing it, I'm sure when you update/reload
It's not bad sectors that chkdsk repaired it's bad file tables, I know it gives the impression it fixes bad sectors but it doesn't, least I've never seen it managed to fix anything yet, best way to check is install HD Sentinal on the C drive, if there are bad sectors this will find them.

Thanks for your help Cantbecanit. RST 10.8.0.1003 seems to have done the trick.
