Hi,
I have 2 x ST3500320AS (7200.11 500GB) in my network attached storage device, DLINK DNS-323.
Anyone has any idea on how I can update/flash the firmware on these HDD ?
I have no PC to boot from CD to flash the firmware on these HDD
I don't have any other SATA connection available, as I only have a laptop that I use to access the NAS.
I have already sent an email to seagate customer service, but they're taking sometime to reply.
Calling tech support gives a standard reply: "our engineers will get back to you asap, in the meantime we can't help you."

Hmm.. connection to the DNS-323 is through network (LAN), not USB.
Is there a way to flash the firmware through network?

get yourself a sata-expresscard for 15 bucks to make e-sata available on your notebook;
can't hurt to have this connection option;

i guess my grouse is .. why should we be spending more $$ to fix seagate's problems?
They should make the firmware update available to all platform, otherwise, they should provide alternative avenues for users to upgrade their firmware (eg. providing free service centres for firmware upgrades).
I am advising all my friends to stay away from seagate now..
