I want reliable hard disk that I can confidence to save my files I mean don't influence from heat of weather or heat of operation for example in the result disk failure.

even I buy internal or external I don't from my hard work to long duration, I will copy my files to it and turn off it, .

Re: What is the difference?????

AIUI, the drives inside Seagate's external enclosures are no different than internal desktop or laptop drives. However, most external enclosures are hotboxes, with drive temperatures often exceeding 50C. Furthermore, external drives are prone to being dropped or damaged by overvoltages from wrong adapters (eg laptop adapters).

If I were considering an external drive, I would buy an ordinary low-RPM desktop drive, and install it in an aluminium enclosure with a fan and heatsink. I would choose one with as many interfaces as possible, including eSATA, firewire, and USB. The cost would be significantly greater than a packaged drive, but at least you will have a full retail warranty.

You may also like to consider RAID-ing two internal drives for extra reliability.

Re: What is the difference?????

AFAICT, Desktop and Laptop drives are sub-categories of Internal Storage. That is, there is no difference.
