Your most expedient solution may be a PCB swap. According to the following guide, your model does not require a chip transfer.

Otherwise, if you want help identifying the components, then upload a photo. You could use a file sharing site, if necessary.

Can you identify your PCB here?

According to a post on Experts , Date code meaning is: Date Code Shape: YYWD or YYWWD YY: fiscal year, beginning on the 1st Saturday of July YY-1 W[1-9] or WW[10-52]: fiscal weeks from 1st Saturday of July YY-1 D: days from the beginning of week WW (weeks run from Saturday to Friday) Seagate Datecode Calculator online, http://www.westernnetworks.com/tools/seagatedatecode.php

Re: Where can I find Seagate (Barracuda 7200.9) circuit diagram?

I don't have a circuit diagram, but there are some simple voltage measurements that you could do.

I'm assuming this is your PCB:
http://i.ebayimg.com/t/PCB-board-Barracuda-7200-9-ST3160812AS-9BD132-041-3-BQH-TK-7028A-/00/s/NTE5WD...

If so, then measure the voltages at each of the two 3R3 coils at the pins closest to the MCU. These should be the Vcore (+1.2V ?) and Vio (+3.3V) supplies for the MCU, SDRAM, and serial flash (8-pin IC at bottom left).

The 1R2 coil is probably part of the -5V supply for the preamp. I suspect that pin #1 (bottom left) of the adjacent 8-pin chip may be the -5V test point.

The above supplies are controlled by the SMOOTH combo IC. The SMOOTH chip also controls the spindle motor and voice coil.

There are also two TVS diodes (12V and 5V) near the SATA power connector. If the drive has sustained an overvoltage, then one or both may be shorted.

Re: Where can I find Seagate (Barracuda 7200.9) circuit diagram?

Thank you very much. That is just the pcb I have. the differences are main chip is agoere and etrontech, while yours is st company and samsun etc. it doesn't matter. The dates you provide are very useful. I can check them. I alway think that 1r2, 3r3 are resistors. but they are coils. There is two test points of power on the right top corner of the main chip (the biggest one).(according to your show pic). how much is the voltage? btw, there are 10 leadless components mark 1R00. are they 1 ohm resistor or 100ohms one?
