Windows Delayed Write Failed

Got this error on 750gb in LaCie enclosure.

Then the drive stopped in the middle of playing an mp3.

Now PC cannot see drive at all via FireWire and via USB if I try and open the drive the PC hangs.

Is it the drive?  The (LaCie) controller card? Help....

Re: Windows Delayed Write Failed

I tried the drive with ubuntu and it worked for 5-10 minutes e.g.copying to another disk; to then it fails (but keeps spinning) and disappears from the OS.

I wait till the drive cools down and reboot ubuntu from a CD (meaning it does not rememeber that it died before) and it works for another 5 minutes amd dies.

Help!

Re: Windows Delayed Write Failed

You will need to perform a 3rd party recovery if you want to get the data back.

In future use this if and when swapping drives about http://mt-naka.com/hotswap/index_enu.htm#download

What has happened, is you have stopped Windows halfway through a task, so it then throws one out the pram and makes itself unreadable in the usual way.
