XP

Hi Guys, Following some viscious Malware I am trying to do a repair to Windows XP Professional with a 40 GB Barracuda 7200.7/ ST 340014A Hard Disk. When booting from the windws disc it asks for an VIA. AGP filter which I ignore and then freezes at approx 32 mins. Is this hard drive or Windows Disc issue? TIA.

Re: XP

Test the drive using SeaTools for DOS. If necessary, zero-fill it. This should remap any bad sectors. Be advised that SeaTools tests are data-safe, but zero-filling is data destructive.

Also try a comprehensive SMART diagnostic. Look for reallocated, pending, or uncorrectable sectors.

HD Sentinel (DOS / Windows / Linux):

HDDScan for Windows:

Re: XP

I think it's asking for a MB chipset driver for the graphics tbh, try putting the MB disk in when this message appears.
