bad sector in mbr area

hi there, i've been looking information about this situation but i have not found the solution.

this is the problem.

the BIOS detects my hard disk but shows that error "3rd. Master HArd Disk Error" so i found in a page, that this error look like mbr is damaged, and i can't see the S.M.A.R.T information, and i downloaded the seatools but every test doesn't work.

can anyone help me :smileyfrustrated:

Re: bad sector in mbr area

Welcome to the forums ronaldo.

The error you described could be caused by a variety of things really, one of them being the MBR I suppose (to be truthfull, i've never heard of the bios complaining with such an error, IN bios, due to a bad mbr - i'll confirm that).

In any case, you seem to be able to run tests on this drive (so, you have another drive with an OS).

Thats good.
A partially bad data cable for example could cause this.

Would you mind mentioning What HDD it is (brand / model), how (if at all peculiarly) the drive behaved before this started to happen?

(sry we took so long to answer - I dont know how your thread slipped to the bottom like that...)

A Pentium III, 256MB RAM and 10GB HDD are needed to run Windows XP.
The power of 3 C64 was needed to fly to SPACE.
Something is wrong with our world...
And its called WINDOWS!
