barracuda 7200.10 external case issue

I have a 500gb barracuda 7200.10 and the USB port has broken off. I am aware this has been quite a common issue with this particular model. I just purchased an external caseing  (3.5" Dynamode Hard Disk Encosure) but the seagate won't fit in due to the usb/power sockets sticking out of the side! Please help as i have no idea what to do. Thanks in advance.

Re: barracuda 7200.10 external case issue

Strip it until it looks like a bog standard drive, if it's USB I guess you have an external drive in a branded case, break open the case and remove the drive and any bridge board it may have on it, then simply plug the power and IO leads from the new case to the drive, slot it in and close it up, hth.
