was in process of xferring Barracuda ATA V (my main C drive) info onto new Vista computer...drive approx 5 yrs old and sometimes connection was "iffy"...unplugged and replugged drive without unplugging/turning off cpu!! (just had eye surgery and wasn't in tiptop shape!)...when replugging drive, i heard a "pffft" sound and saw tiny spark...is it totally dead? took to a computer lab (Saratoga Technologies) and they said they couldn't get it to "spin up". is it dead?
thanks, js

Your PCB may be dead, though you might get lucky and the data may still be intact. I do know if the drive PCB touches anything metallic on the right spot, you get a nice burning smell. In which case the PCB is pretty much dead.
