my barracuda 7200.11 ST31000340AS can't be updated

[ Edited ]

I have purchased a new Seagate Barracuda 1TB 32mb cache in the past few days.. I was so excited plugging it in, only to find out that it was "dead on arriva". The BIOS and OS cannot detect it. I checked some possible reasons for its failure, and I found out about the issue in the 7200.11's... I checked websites to see if my disk is affected, and it was... They say that the only way to fix it was to update the firmware... I downloaded the firmware from this page:

http://seagate.custkb.com/seagate/crm/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=207951

and I burned it, booted from it, and followed the on screen instructions. I entered "C" to download firmware to  ST31000340AS, and the it said that there was no such drive...

Please HELP!!!!

here are my disk details:

Is the bios showing it on load up, or is it just seeming to not be there? you need to load a Sata driver before you load windows otherwise the drive won't be seen, the way to find out is to boot and on the 1st black screen you should see the drives name listed, if it isn't it's bricked, if it is it will be the Sata driver issue, most of these drives that are faulty carry the SD15 firmware btw.
