operating system cannon boot

[ Edited ]

Hello,

I have SEAGATE BARRACUDA Firefox ST3250410AS.When I try to reinstall the operating system XP from cd, my computer shows the following message:"Could'nt find NTLDR, The system cannon boot".

I would like to know if any solution to boot the cd.

Re: operating system cannon boot

Make sure your optical drive (CD / DVD) precedes your hard drive in the BIOS boot order. It sounds like your BIOS is attempting to boot from the HDD rather than the optical drive.

NTLDR is normally a missing O/S boot folder.

I suspect you haven't loaded a sata driver, google setting up a sata drive with sata driver F2 install, you must tell the bios to boot DVD/CD first though, turn of AHCi in bios.

Please post specs it helps a great deal.

To the best of my knowledge, XP can't be setup in AHCI, it has to be ATA, as Intel never made a deriver for it. Intel did make a driver to allow XP to be used on a SATA HD.

Yep, sorry I was batch replying so I went onb the title more than what was said, it's still a missing boot file though, re-install is the best solution.
