problem using SATA and IDE maxtor

hello 

i have 2 hdd-maxtor hard drives on in SATA and my windows installed on it and another hard is IDE i want to use my old IDE hard but when i installed it in bios menu it recgnized as primary master and my main sata hard recognized as third ide master and system wont boot up i changed jumpers in all position but nothing changed . please help me for this problem

Hi,

SATA and ATA/IDE are two from each other independent interfaces. You have to set the IDE drive as master. The SATA drive is not affected by the jumper configuration of the IDE drive, but an single IDE drive on the cable must be set as master/single or cable select. The only thing you have to do now (after you have set the IDE drive as master), is to set the SATA drive as "1st Boot Device" in the BIOS. Booting from the SATA drive should work then.
