"Date" & "DOM" numbers on Barracuda drive?

Hi

I have a question. On my Seagate Barracuda drive I noticed two numbers: "Date" & "DOM"

From what I can deduce, the "DOM" located at the bottom of label on the drive is for Date of Manufacture, in this case November 2011.

Just below the "FW" (Firmware) about in the middle of the label, there is a "Date" number as well. In this case 12216. To me at least, it would appear as 2012 (12) - February (2) - 16th (16).

When I use the warranty checker, it says my warranty will expire in February 2014.

What is the difference between these two numbers "Date" & "DOM" on the drive?

Thanks

Re: "Date" & "DOM" numbers on Barracuda drive?

Seagate's data codes are encoded.

See http://www.bugaco.com/calculators/seagate_date_code.php

12216 corresponds to 2011-11-26

Thanks man. Stupid Date code is misleading.
