+1
I also have 3 of these drives. I have had 1 die on me already. All three are st3500320as 9BX154-303. I have downloaded the firmware update cd image and tried to flash my remaining 2 drives only to get an error saying the it expected to find a st3500320as and couldnt. I have now tried this process on 3 different machines with various sata configs to no end.
Is this drive going to get a firmware update?

We need the firmware update for -303! My company has dozens of these drives, and we've already lost at least 10 in the past couple months. They're starting to drop like flies. This is NOT normal!

I have 15 7200.11 750Gb drives with the SD15 firmware, 8 of them in a RAID array.
I have another 7200.11 1Tb drive with the same firmware.
All of them have the -303 model number, and the update did not work.
I haven't had any of the drives fail, but I'm sure it's because I haven't turned off a lot since I bought them. The 8 in teh RAID array have been rebooted maybe just 5 or 6 times. The 1Tb is in my Mac Pro and it is rebooted a lot more, but since reading about this I removed it from the computer and I'm waiting for the firmware to put it back.
I contacted support the last week. The first guy told me he will send me the links and so on in an email. One day later I haven't received anything and I contacted support again, and this time another guy told me they did not have a firmware update yet, but "early next week". It appears they don't have a lot of communication between different areas of the company, or even different support guys.

I own a -303 drive as well and are unable to upgrade the firmware. The online-check says my drive is affected. When flashing, I get the dreaded "...XXXX expected"-error.
just on a sidenote: (sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but I think it might be important to some)
While using AHCI, the scan-function of the tool did not recognize my st3500320as, it was detected correct only after switching to IDE.
