write zeros fails

Every test I have ran on my new drive states it passed (one error was found but successfully repaired at one time). However, when choosing to run the write zeros advanced option it has failed twice.

I believe it is failing because it runs for a while (about 40% the first time and 3% the second) and then it throws text up on the screen telling me that I may review a log file (that does not exist) and leaves me at a C:\ prompt.  The SeaTools screen is still visible, but the dos writing overlaps it.

Is this drive bad?

I purchased it because another drive I purchased 3 months ago is now making clicking noises.  I am hoping to get it running long enough to pull data off before I RMA it.  I just want to make sure the drive I move everything off to has a better chance of lasting.

Thanks.

Re: write zeros fails

AIUI, the message on the screen should be as below. The environment variable, %RAMD%, will be replaced with the drive letter of the RAM drive.

===================================================
Thank you for using SeaTools for DOS. A list of test log files is
available by typing DIR *.log at the %RAMD% prompt. Log files are
named after the drive's serial number. To view a particular log file,
at the %RAMD% prompt type SHOW filename.LOG

To view the user guide file at the %RAMD% prompt just type README

To copy all log files to a floppy diskette type COPY *.LOG B:

Please remove your CD or floppy diskette and press CTRL+ALT+DEL to reboot.

Re: write zeros fails

Thank you for the quick response. I was unable to read that portion of the message.  I'll give it a try, but would still like feedback on this if anyone runs across the post.  The drive is 2 days old now, so I may exchange it just for peace of mind on my part.
