I use a BlackArmor NAS440 4TB with 4 HD: Disk 1 and 4 are single disks (non-raid) each assigned to 1 computer for back-up and storage, disk 2 and 3 are RAID 1 (stripping) and used as Media Server. I'd like to use disk 1 and 4 for archiving, so here is my question: once Disk 1 or 4 is full, can I remove it from the BlackAmor, store it for safe keeping, and replace it with a new HD to continue backing up data? If so, will I be able to reconnect the disk later to access files if required?
In short, I'd like to use the HD as storage media instead of copying files to DVD for archiving and storage. It will be faster and cheaper then my current archiving method.
