We recently had our Blackarmor NAS 440 box replaced under warranty because it became unresponsive and would not let any users connect to the shares.
The new one came out and within 24 hours hard drive 1 had failed. I rebuilt a RAID5 array across the other 5 drives as I needed to use the NAS, this built fine and worked ok for a few days. For some reason one day it became unresponsive, no access to the web control panel and would not reboot from the power button. The only option was to pull the plug and reboot that way.
At power on the RAID goes into recovery mode and recovers for around 10 hours, when it gets to between 95 and 100% it fails and locks you out of the web control panel. Essentially the cycle starts over again. I have tried this several times and am getting nowhere with it.
At the moment the box is a £600 paperweight as I dare not use it for any critical files, in case it decides to crash on us again.
Any assistance is welcomed.
Sam
