Re: NAS 110 Windows cannot locate driver error

I also recently purchased a BlackArmor 110 NAS and connected it to My 2Wire AT&T Network router which also has two computers by ethernet and 3 TVs by HomePNA1 as well as a wireless HP printer.  All seem to work well.  However the NAS is found under the network (which seems reasonable) but the installation software indicates that a driver should be installed and while Vista detected new hardware it than also indicated that it couldn,'t find the driver.  Also the Devise Manager shows the yellow exclamation sign next to BlackArmor NAS 1D located under Other devices (which shows a Question Mark).  However I was able to use the BlackArmor Backup program to render a copy of my main drive (C;\).  Hopefully I will be able to restore it I needed.  Sadly my preferred Backup program Norton 360 fails to recognize the NAS drive at all as Vista fails to assign a drive letter to the NAS, which probably should have occurred if the correct driver could be found in Windows! Or even online at Seagate whose silence can be only interpreted as embarrassment. I hope someone from Seagate will step up and comment.

Re: NAS 110 Windows cannot locate driver error

Hello,

There is not a driver for the NAS. Set the prompt for the driver to, 'Don't show this message again for this device'.

If you want to map a share on the NAS go to Start and Run and type in \\ip address of NAS and Enter.

The root of the NAS will open.  Right click the share and choose Map Network Drive.  Add user name and password if needed.

You can also use the BlackArmor Discovery Software to map a share.

Re: NAS 110 Windows cannot locate driver error

Correct. Running Vista.

Correct. It still seems to work despite the warning.

However. For some time, the drive would not access automatically, unless I first ran some of the Seagate/NAS software (Black Armor Discovery).  Seems to have some kind of required initialization built in to their stuff.  Eventually, I got annoyed at the message, and finally clicked the box to never show again.  Now it dont show, and the Seagate works automatically.  Ignore and it goes away?

I just wanted the device to run as it is supposed to.  Additionally, the Black Armor Backup, I've setup some backup protocols several times.  It will definitely work if run manually, but will not initiate scheduled tasks.

oh well.

Re: NAS 110 Windows cannot locate driver error

Hello,

Good news!  There is a BlackArmor NAS driver coming out very soon that will take care of that irritating prompt for a driver alert we get in Vista and Windows 7.

The driver will be for Vista and Windows 7, 32 and 64 bit versions.

Bad news is, I don't have a release date yet.  Lets just say very soon.

Good News?  I got better news.  I got rid of BlackArmor and got a real NAS with no troubles and plenty of support.   Seagate is as usual, a day late and a dollar short.

Hello, I downloaded and extracted the drivers on your website for the NAS D1 Vista version.  Still cannot get it to install.  I have had my NAS for probably 2 years now.  I never mapped a network drive to it before. I always just accessed it directly.  Now that I mapped (hoping to use the automatic back up software) I continually get the "need to install driver" message from Windows. So, that is why I downloaded the drivers and tried to install.  Since it's not working for me does anyone have any new suggestions?  Do I need to have a netword drive mapped in order to use the automatic back up?  TIA.
