Re: NAS 220 - Global Access time out issues

This is not the only network forum that the NAS 110/220 is having this issue. I posted here because it was a Seagate Forum and I thought they supported it. We all know what they say about Assumptions. I really don't have a choice ... I have a 30 day return on my NAS or I eat the loss and live with the issues.

It's not that I am looking for the perfect device .. everything has issues. But this feeling of be abandoned after the purchase is too much to take or should be expected to take. It's all of us helping each other .. all with different skill sets ... none of us work for or helped develop this NAS and we are expected somehow to fix/solve the issues?

Where is Seagate's role and responsibility to the customer? ... ask yourself.

Re: NAS 220 - Global Access time out issues

Same thing here. It was working last night with Global access  but now is giving the slow connection message. Is anyone from Seagate going to jump in here? I am really frustrated and wasted a whole night and day working on this till I stumbled on to this forum thread, this is my first NAs and I thought I was doing somethig wrong, my only relief is to see that I am not alone and this seems to be a server issur with GLobal access. I will wait a couple days and them it is back to the store!

Re: NAS 220 - Global Access time out issues

I just stayed on the phone with tech support for 2 hrs, and we tried it all, wireless router settings, factory set my router, tired my straight connection with out the wireless router, lastest firm ware was already updated, we rest so many times, setup another user account, everything but taking it to another network to see if there was a difference, and he suggested that I do that when I get off work; even if it works on another net work, it doesn't work on mine!!! so I will take this back this afternoon, global access, is not the reason that I bought the nas but if it comes with the feature and I already set up profiles for my family it should work. And for that reason, it's going back as soon as I get off work. Thanks guys and gals for your help and support this seemed to be a great forum..ps I advised seagate to monitor their forums .... :-)  good day

Re: NAS 220 - Global Access time out issues

The trouble shooting steps Tech Support Had me work through is change the upnp settings on my wireless router, that seems to be the fix for many, but not me, so this may help some of us out. But I just took the router out of the equation and still had the issue, so next up is the the WD World Book, like I said I will comeback here and let you guys know how it works for me.

Re: NAS 220 - Global Access time out issues

You can't tell me that Seagate's support, software/harware Dept., IT and IS are NOT aware of this issue and many more concerning their NAS product. The point of it all is the bottom line ... if they are selling then they are making money. This is evident by their lack of concern and involvement in their very own support forum. The Global Access was one of the reasons for the purchase beside what I thought was a good company reputation for Seagate.

If they can not admit to an issue, afraid of customer returns, then at least they could monitor the forums and state that they are working on a solution and will email everyone that has registered their product. That is called "Customer Loyalty". I am transfering my data as I write and back to "Best Buy" it goes.

It was GREAT meeting you people and I wish you all the Best. You guys have, if nothing else, help see that I was not the only person with an advertised program that doesn't work. Thank You :smileywink:

Re: NAS 220 - Global Access time out issues

I did the same thing thoms

I took the wireless linksys router out, I tried a the comcast router, I went direct to the server (to test the transfer speed as mine is way slow) nothing worked. I just put everything back the way it was and left it and suddenly several hours later it works again like it did lat night. I dont think there is a fix per say so much as this tells me  their Global Access server is whacked. WHy else would I get a different result without changing the settings?

Re: NAS 220 - Global Access time out issues

I agree .. we all can not be having the same issue, unless Seagate is selling defective equipment. It has to be on their part with Global Access. But what can we do? No one from Seagate reads or responds to this forum. :smileysad:

Re: NAS 220 - Global Access time out issues

Well, I took mine back and now I have the WD My Book World Edition 1tb with the long white light.....and it's much fater then the nas 110, and I can access my info through the web through this crappy app called mionet, but it's not that bad at all .. the key is I can access my files remotely, as far as the local access it's the same good experience I had with the nas 110 but alittle faster..., so me I'm satisfied with this WD so far, after research and what I can afford..this product is the fit for me... So if you guys are thinking about settling with spotty global access ...it maybe worth your time to change up if it's important to access your files remotely.....this is my last post...so good luck....good bye SeaGate......Hello Western Digital.....!!!! :-)

Re: NAS 220 - Global Access time out issues

Thanks thoms3 for the headsup. Western Digital is another brand that I have had GREAT luck with. I have heard of issues with Mionet ... but if it is working and Gloabal Access is not .. it seems to me the decision is obvious. Good Luck thoms3 and all the Best.

My NAS 110 is going back also. Thanks
